The traditional matcha spoon is called a chashaku (pronounced cha-shah-koo), which  translates to "tea scoop" in Japanese. It features a distinct curve that is carefully designed to hold fine matcha powder. Generally, one level scoop measures about 1 gram of matcha powder, which is roughly one-third of a teaspoon. A standard serving of thin matcha typically requires two scoops.

Care: It should be cleaned by wiping with a dry cloth or paper towel rather than washed with water or soap to prevent the delicate bamboo from warping.
