Inspired by two beloved characters from Japanese folklore, this playful furoshiki design features Okame, a symbol of joy and good fortune, alongside Hyottoko, the comical, puckered-faced character often seen at traditional festivals. Created by Japanese design studio COCHAE, the artwork transforms as you fold and tie the furoshiki, revealing different expressions and bringing a little surprise to every use.

Made in Japan from lightweight 100% cotton. The size of this furoshiki is small — 18.9″ x 18.9″ (48 × 48 cm).

Furoshiki are traditional Japanese wrapping cloths that have brought beauty and intention to everyday life for centuries. Today, these square cotton cloths can make gift giving more beautiful, wrap a bento box lunch, be paired with our wooden bag handles to create a beautiful handbag, or be worn as a scarf.

As a general rule, a furoshiki works best when it's about three times larger than the item being wrapped, giving the fabric plenty of room for beautiful folds and secure knots.

This collection comes from Musubi, a third-generation Japanese company based in Kyoto that has specialized in authentic furoshiki since 1937. Beautiful, reusable, and thoughtfully made, each furoshiki is designed to be used again and again—becoming part of your family's traditions and creating new memories with every fold.
